Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a good opportunity to spend some time with your family-in-laws. Enjoy the time and deepen your appreciation for your soon-to-be new family.

Dream Up Your Dream Wedding
Before you can start planning a dream wedding you need to imagine the wedding that would fulfill your deepest desires and expectations. Don’t make the mistake of rushing into the planning stage without really understanding what it is that you are planning.
“A wedding” is not a good answer to the question “What are you planning.” There are all sorts of weddings. You should know that if you get invited to a lot of weddings. Haven’t you noticed that each wedding has its own unique features and flaws? Now it is time to imagine what you want your wedding to be like. What would make your wedding really special and successful in your own eyes?
So, take a time out. Sit down with your honey and imagine your dream wedding. Write it down.
Then it is time to start thinking about how you can make your dream wedding happen on your budget.

Why Wedding Services are SO EXPENSIVE
One reason wedding service providers charge so much is that they do not have the incentive to keep their prices low. They aren’t worried about getting your repeat business since you will probably not get married again and if you do it will probably be a long time from now. So, they get as much money as they can out of you and then move onto their next source of income – or should we say victim?
Whether the bride and groom realizes it or not, they have a wedding pie representing all the money they will dish out for their wedding and every wedding vendor wants as large a slice of that pie handed over to them as possible.
Many brides and grooms have huge piles of money just handed over to them by their parents. Any wedding vendor who knows a lick about business is going to see that their market has cash to spare forcing wedding goods and services to carry inflated price tags. These clientelle are not all that worried about budgets and bills – they just want nice weddings and will pay whatever it takes to get their nice wedding.
Just the other day, we invited a MySpacer to check out our book on planning a wedding on a budget and she wrote back that she “doesn’t have a budget” so our book was irrelevant to her. What can we say except “it must be nice.”
What this young lady doesn’t realize yet is that although she doesn’t have a budget right now she probably will when she has four kids, mortgage payments, cars breaking down, and a kid in the hospital with a broken leg. The point is that even if you have plenty of money right now why give it away to the wedding professionals than necessary?
Plan a wedding the smart way so that you get your dream wedding and still have your money. Put that money in savings because you will need it – perhaps sooner than you realize.
Are you inclined to throw as much money at your wedding service providers as possible because that is the only way you will see your parents’ money? Well, make a deal with them. Ask them to guarantee a set amount towards your wedding right up front and have them agree that if you spend less than that then you get the balance as a bonus for being a smart planner. Most parents will agree to this because they want to encourage smart spending habits in their children.
We’ve Been Googlized
Since we first started this project a couple months ago, our planning a wedding on a budget website has been pretty much ignored by Google.
Just overnight we have gone from non-existence on Google searches to first page ranking and we are excited about it! We Saved $22,000 on Our Wedding!

Budget Wedding Headpiece / Veil
The headpiece is one item that is simple to create for yourself in order to save a lot of money. If you want to know how much the wedding veil typically costs, click here.
Bet those prices make you more interested in making your own wedding head piece!
All you need to do is go to your local crafts store and get a tiara or headband and attach some tulle to it. It’s not really that difficult to make a beatiful veil or headpiece for about $15 or so.

Christmas Wedding
Any of you up for a Christmas wedding? Here is a great way to get away from the overdone pastels and into some of the richer colors. We do not have rights to any photos (have any to share?) of a Christmas wedding; but just imagine a background of forest green trees filled with sparkling lights, red bows, and then a bride in white. It doesn’t get better than that!
Now imagine that you are marrying at a church that is already decorated for you! Most churches are all decked out for Christmas so you can use their beautiful sanctuaries as a background for your special occasion.
Another bonus is that Christmas is not a high season for weddings so you can probably get a better rate during this off season.
Christmas is a joyous time of celebration full of symbolism for the giving away of self and new life. Can you think of a better time to get married?

Romantic Honeymoon Music
Want to add an extra touch of romance to your honeymoon? In preparation for our honeymoon, Lisa compiled a couple CD’s of romantic love songs to enhance (if that were possible!) the romantic mood of our honeymoon. Truth be told, we barely used those CD’s during our honeymoon but they have been brought out from time to time for a romantic evening together. Can you think of anything more romantic than dancing in candlelight to a selection of your favorite love songs?
